Central Park
The old soccer fields beside the Akasaka Recreation Centre are being transformed into a Central Park for Grande Cache. This park will be developed over 3 years:
- Year 1: layout and grading, paving of walking trails, amphitheatre seating, and tree planting
- Years 2 & 3: Addition of shrubs, gazebo, fire pit, public restrooms, water park, etc.
- Future: Potential opportunity for light commercial development in the area

UPDATE: Phase one is complete - including the paving of trails, trees planted, completion of parking/drop-off lane, amphitheatre seating, and utilities (water & power).

Downtown Core
Phase one of this project is complete. Work included the extention of the current sidewalk in front of Home Hardware along to Shand Ave. This was extended 1.5 metres, in which trees were planted, and new lighting was replaced. A brick crosswalk was created between the old Alpine Inn and the Movie Gallery. Large planters were added in front of the businesses, which will be covered in a stone material to follow our beautification theme.
A Beautification Loan was developed through Community Futures West Yellowhead for local businesses. Downtown businesses are encouraged to upgrade their building facades to follow our new beautification theme.
