2010 Municipal Elections

General municipal elections are held across Alberta every three years for mayors, councilors, municipal district electoral area directors and school board trustees pursuant to the Alberta Local Authorities Election Act, RSA 2000 Chapter L-21. The next municipal election will be held on Monday, October 18, 2010. Candidates are voted in for a three year term. 

Who is eligible to run as a Council Candidate? 

You qualify as a candidate for municipal council if you: 

  1. Are eligible to vote in the election
  2. Have been a resident of Grande Cache for the 6 consecutive months preceding nomination day; and
  3. Are not otherwise ineligible or disqualified

How do I nominate a Council Candidate?

  3. Nomination papers can be dropped off at the Council Chambers in the Provincial Building on Monday, September 20, 2010 between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon.

    Who Can Vote? 

You can vote in an Alberta election as a resident elector if you: 

  1. Are at least 18 years old on Monday, October 18, 2010
  2. Are a Canadian citizen
  3. Have resided in Alberta for at least 6 consecutive months immediately preceding election day and the person’s place of residence is located in Grande Cache on election day.All Town of Grande Cache residents who meet these requirements are eligible to vote.
