Grande Cache Forward Looking
We understand that our community and the rest of the world will continue to undergo significant changes within the next 20 to 50 years. During this time, we can expect, on a local level, our economy will continue to evolve and that peaks and valleys will continue to occur. On a global scale, significant events such as global warming, geo-political unrest, technological advances and increased competition for resources will continue to have a major impact on our community. As part of our efforts, long term planning will assist in achieving our targets in a realistic manner as well as the ability to proactively adjust to changing realities.
Why Have 20/20 Vision
Over the next 20 to 50 years, we know that much of our municipal infrastructure will have exceeded its useful life and will require retrofits or complete replacement. Our population will continue to grow and there will be an increased demand on our natural surroundings as a result of ever expanding resource harvesting. Combined with political shifts, increased pressures in sectors such as food production, energy, water and climate change we will need to adapt accordingly.
Recognizing that there are time constraints to implement fundamental societal change Grande Cache aspires to be at the forefront of change, striving to achieve a level of excellence and meeting our strategic vision for the future in order to create a healthy and sustainable community for ourselves and those who follow.
Some goals are quickly obtainable and some will take years of planning. By having a clear vision of the future we will set into motion a sequence of events that involve the public in decision making and empower those who call Grande Cache home to join us in reaching our goals.
How Does This Plan Pertain To Me?
The Town’s Core Values and 9 Guiding Principals establish a framework that guides us in our relationships with people and how we will carry out the work that we do. In the plans, we are challenged to find an appropriate balance between individual, neighborhood, economic and broader regional interests and needs. The plan sets strategic focus areas and strategies that reflect the vision we have for Grande Cache and our organization. Some of these goals will be achieved during a single term of office of a Council and some are longer-term challenges that we as a community will strive to address over time.
Grande Caches’ 20/20 Vision forms the basis of all of our planning, from internal human resource management, annual budgets, long term capital plans, land use and broader regional initiatives, which will be broken out into specific departmental plans and coordinated to obtain a common vision.
Using our 20/20 Vision as a foundation each of our departments will have specific strategies that set out what and how our departments will contribute to our organizational vision and purpose. Individual departments will develop quarterly work plans, which will focus on the day to day activities which will help the community achieve its strategic directions.
